Genesse County is the 5th most populous county in Michigan. Genesee County is considered to be a part of the greater Mid Michigan area. Bishop International Airport is located in Genesee County and is served by several major airlines.
The inter-modal Flint Amtrak station offers daily service on the Blue Water route west to Chicago and east to Port Huron. It doubles as a bus station for Greyhound Lines, Indian Trails and Flint Mass Transportation Authority.

There are many recreation areas within Genesee County including Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad, several county parks and Holloway Resevoir.  

Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad – Operated by the Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission alongside the Huckleberry Railroad. Initially proposed as a Flint River recreational area and a farm museum, it was opened as a historical village in 1976. Crossroads Village is home to 34 buildings, many which are restored 19th-century buildings, as well as amusement rides, a narrow-gauge railroad, and a replica paddlewheel steamboat. It also hosts numerous events and festivals throughout the year. The village is located at 6140 Bray Road in Genesee Township.

Holloway Resevoir – Holloway Reservoir Regional Park is located in Richfield and Oregon townships and spans 5,500 acres. There is a canoe launch below Holloway Reservoir Dam, Walleye Pike Boat Launch. Featured areas include Buttercup Beach, Elba Equestrian Complex, Hogback Hills – which has a snowmobile area and sledding/tobogganing, and Wolverine Campground.

Lake Fenton – 845-acre all-sports lake located in the city of Fenton.
